Laundry Room

Ok, so I skipped last week. I have been crazy busy. This week, I don't even have a full post about Pinterest Friday, but here is Part One of the Laundry Room! Here is my original pin from Sausha at Show and Tell, plans by Ana White. As soon as I saw this, I knew I wanted to make this pedestal in my house. And so far, I am loving the extra height!

We have since finished the floor and still need to add a light, some trim and baseboards, and probably put in a shelf to hold our stuff. I will post pictures when we are all done!

The UP House

We went to the Parade of Homes in Salt Lake this year. Actually, about a month ago. (Sorry, I'm behind.) The reason we went was all for this: The UP house. The other houses were cool, but this one was AWESOME. I heard that the builders actually got permission and plans from Disney to make a copy of the house from the movie.

They had a Carl sitting on the front porch with his cane.

There was even custom built furniture to match the movie.

This was in the nursery. Look mom, you have that exact lamp!

The master bedroom. I forgot to take a picture of the master bathroom, but it was beautiful. It had an old fashioned claw foot tub.

The kitchen it not shown in the movie, but they did a good job making it look retro.

They had this room in the basement: it looked just like Andy's room from Toy Story.

Backyard in Progress

This has been a long time coming. We have been wanting to remove some of the grass in our backyard for a while. Nothing against grass, there is just TOO MUCH OF IT. We killed the grass in a circle in the corner for a fire pit, and cut out all the grass around that to plant flowers and trees and filled that all in with mulch. To cut out all the grass, we had to rent a sod cutter from Home Depot. There was no way we were going to dig that out. This is the best before picture I got because Eric started before I got the camera. You can see a couple strips cut out already.

... this part took a while because we had to go around all the trees and bushes we already planted. Note to self: next time, cut the grass out first, then plant the trees.

Finally making lots of progress: this is the pile of sod we cut out and posted on KSL for anyone who wanted it to come and get it. It took the guys two very full trips to get it all.

This is the next morning, by the way. We did not do this all in one night.

The mulch we got came from the dump. It is good looking and super cheap. All of the stuff we got, which was enough for all this and then some, cost $50. Here are the boys "helping" to shovel it out of the trailer.

Eric was shoveling it out while I was putting down the weed barrier.

We got a bunch of pretty plants to put in the border. The look we are going for is very lush and colorful. We'll see how it turns out. These flowers are Flamenco Red Hot Poker, Salvia, Hibiscus, Potenilla, and Geranium.

We also cut out a border around our deck to make a nice clean edge.

Doesn't look perfect yet, but the plan is for things to grow and fill out, plus we'll plant more flowers and bushes. Hopefully in a couple years it will look great!

New Bed

We made William a bed because Luke was getting too big for the bassinet and we didn't want to buy another crib mattress, so William moved to a twin size! I found these instructions for the bed on Knock Off Wood where she has really nice instructions for all kinds of furniture. Mostly Pottery Barn knock-offs, hence the name.

Look what we did all day saturday

It all started on wednesday, when I went out to the garage to get something and locked myself and William out of the house for a couple hours until Eric got home. We used that time to clean out a lot of the garage and organize the stuff in there. Saturday, we went to home depot and bought some shelves to finish the job and actually parked both our cars in there at the same time! Yay!

Also, if no one noticed, we got a new car and traded in our FJ Cruiser. We loved it, but it was costing too much money so now we have an Infiniti I35 that we both love.

We finally closed!

This morning we went and signed papers so when it records on Monday, we will have a new house! We did our final walk through yesterday, and there was a lot about the house that we didn't remember, but it's all good stuff. Like that there are speakers mounted on the back of the house, which will be nice if we ever want to throw a party out there.

Happy Announcement!!!

We got our house!!! YAY!!! If all goes well, we will be closing on Jun 24th and be moved in before the holiday! And then you can come visit, mom! Are you so excited?!?!

Back on the Market!

Our house was officially put back on the market yesterday. I tried to search for it online but I couldn't find it on remax.com. I think they are waiting to post it on the website until we have the pictures taken. The lady is coming today to take those pics. I will post the link as soon as the website is updated.

The Flood

So today we had a flood in our basement. It started around 2:00 in the afternoon with a crazy flash-flood, and pretty soon we had these huge hailstones falling too. The hail lasted for about 20 minutes and the rain was about an hour, but it did some serious damage. On the highway that is right by our house, the drains were not working right, so there was a river flowing down the street that our backyard is up against. The water hit the curb and jumped over it, down into our backyard. The window well in our laundry room was filled up with about three feet of water, which was slowly leaking into the basement. Overall, we probably got about two inches on the floor. Plus the water was muddy and may possibly been partially sewage because it was overflowing the sewage drains. Gross.
