Painting Cookies

We painted sugar cookies today! I thought this would be less messy to decorate (and to eat) than using frosting. Wills wanted to put Batman on everything.







What we painted was not really recognizable after they cooked, but they still tasted great!



The recipe for the cookies and the paint is from Betty Crocker's basic cookbook.

March Houses: St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is not a day I decorate a lot for, but I love the way these houses turned out! I think every month, I say these are my new favorites, and that is true again! Here is the original pin from the lovely Whimsy Studios, and here are mine.

Sorry if the pictures are a bit fuzzy. I have been having trouble with my camera and I am blind as an old woman, so this is as good as it gets.

Pajama Monsters

I found this pattern on Pinterest for pajama monsters from Sew Fearless. The have zippered mouths so you can put your pajamas in them in the morning, and then they give them back at night!

I'm glad I did them with the minkee fabric. I think that gives them a "real stuffed animal" look, plus they are so nice to hug.

I let the boys pick out their own colors. Obviously, William's favorite color is red and I think the only color Luke knows really well is orange. Which is funny to me because that was the first color Will learned too.

It was a pretty simple pattern, and easy to understand, but I did make some adjustments on the second one that made it better. First of all, you don't need a yard of the main fabric at all. A half yard should do fine, I have tons of leftover. Second, the feet are too big and the legs too poofy. On my second one, I cut the soles a little more foot-shaped, and I cut much less fabric for the legs. By the way, so you can tell in the pictures, the orange one was first and the red one is a little improved.

Overall, they turned out great and the boys love them! Maybe these will help them keep their room clean... but I doubt it.

Countdown to Christmas

I had this Christmas advent that I spent forever making this year so we would have a fun way to keep up with the days til Christmas, but I sold them all. So I will have to make more next year.

Foxes

I am up to my ears in puppets right now, catching up an a great couple days of orders. Wills found my stash of foxes and wore one on each finger.

My Newest Project

This is what I have been working on recently:

A Christmas Advent! I am so excited about this one, the ornaments are looking so cute! Don't worry, I am making one for me and TWO for you! It is probably going to take a while to get it into the shop but I will keep you updated.

And... Done!

Ninety birdhouses, decorated, painted, and cutesied up! Now I can come back to the real world!

I might be gone for a while...

I have an order of 90 birdhouses to make in the style of this one from my shop, so my kitchen looks like this right now:

Here is my new July 4th decoration! I have these on the shelf in my kitchen and I love them!

Finger Puppets!!!!

Since my mom has come to my house for the summer, we have been going finger puppet crazy. Here is some of what we have made.

We have sets for Peter Pan, Rapunzel (not quite finished yet), Fairy Tales, Little Bunny Foo Foo, Five Little Monkeys, Pirates, Old MacDonald, and Woodland creatures. I am slowly getting them all listed in the shop. They are so cute, they are going to be hard to part with!

Scram!

I tried out freezer paper stenciling for the first time recently. (I know, I am so behind on this.) I used a tutorial by Dana from MADE to make sure I was doing it right. I think it turned out pretty cute!

I don't know if you can tell, but the messy look around Oscar's face was intentional. It is supposed to look like mud. Hopefully you got that without me telling you.
